Rolf Gibbels has the responsibility for leading the AWS Energy & Utilities industry customer engagement strategy, Go to Market (GTM) and thought leadership initiatives. He is focused on increasing the reach of cloud computing across all customer stakeholders providing services including electricity, water and natural gas. Electrification, decentralization and the need to modernize the electric grid and ageing infrastructure drive the energy industry towards digitization and the Cloud. Rolf leads the customer engagement strategy for AWS, and supports energy companies to be innovative, agile and customer-centric. Rolf has over 20 years international experience in business development and strategy with focus on cloud based digital industry solutions, asset performance management (APM) and product lifecycle management (PLM) software in the energy, utilities, and architecture and construction industries. Prior to AWS, he built and led the global commercial team for GE Digital Power and GE Digital Renewable Energy. Previously, Rolf was the global industry solutions leader in IBM’s Energy & Utilities organization. Rolf holds a master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Applied Sciences in Munich, Germany.
