In this Lyceum Workshop, we will apply the IHS Markit scenario building methodology and extensive group interaction to develop high-level long-term scenarios focused on economy-wide deep decarbonization, and the potential technological and socio-political challenges. Participants will be divided into teams, each to explore and develop a plausible scenario.

The industrial sector offers many opportunities for energy savings from utility energy efficiency programs. Where are these opportunities and what are the barriers to faster implementation? What are some of the technological and policy solutions?
Heat and power account for 60% of emissions globally. Renewables deployment has made some progress, however there is still a long way to go. Could hydrogen help in meeting mid-century emissions targets in the heat and power sectors?
