Steve Reynish, Executive Vice President, Strategy and Operations Services, at Suncor is responsible for environment, health & safety; information & process management; enterprise technical; projects; corporate strategy; commercial & business development and supply chain & field logistics. Before joining Suncor, Mr. Reynish held several senior positions developing and managing large-scale oil sands and mining operations. He is a current board member of The Oxford Institute for Energy Studies and has previously served on the boards of Canadian Oil Sands Limited and the Alberta Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society and Foundation (STARS). Mr. Reynish is a past member of the board of governors for the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP). Holding a master’s degree in both mining engineering and business administration, he is a graduate of IMD in Switzerland and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

    Canada is the fifth largest producer of crude oil and natural gas globally. In 2018 western Canada experienced incredible price volatility as oil supply growth overtook available pipeline export capacity. In response the government took the extraordinary step to intervene and impose production limitations for 2019. Meanwhile, Canada announced that it would be entering the global LNG game. This session will discuss the extreme oil price volatility that occurred in western Canada in 2018, Canada’s entrance to the global LNG game, the importance of advancing pipeline infrastructure, and the way forward for the Canadian industry.
