Lisa Murkowski is a third-generation Alaskan proudly serving as the first Alaska-born U.S. Senator. Murkowski is a senior member of the panels on Energy and Natural Resources; Appropriations; Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions; and Vice Chairman of the Indian Affairs Committee. A Republican leader on energy, mineral, and climate policy, Murkowski was named the most effective Senator on these issues in 2021. Among her accomplishments as Chairman of the Energy and Natural Resources Committee (2015-2020) were the lifting of the export ban on U.S. crude oil, the opening of federal lands to responsible resource development, and the first modernization of U.S. energy laws to promote technological innovation, efficiency, and clean energy deployment in well over a decade. In the 117th Congress, Murkowski played a key role in drafting the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which is investing more than $70 billion into energy and climate-related priorities. Murkowski is a strong proponent of domestic energy and mineral production, the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, regulatory and permitting reforms, and the strategic use of American resources as a geopolitical and competitive asset.
