FreightWaves Editor at Large; Community Engagement, Blockchain in Transport Alliance

John Kingston is the Editor at Large for FreightWaves, a new dynamic entrant into the transportation sector. One of the initiatives of FreightWaves has been the creation of the Blockchain in Transport Alliance, bringing together disparate participants in supply chains to create the standards that will drive blockchain applications in the future. As editor-at-large, Kingston writes about a wide variety of transport and trucking-related topics. He also is the oil expert on the Team of Experts for SONAR, the groundbreaking database offering created by FreightWaves. Much of his career was spent at McGraw-Hill/S&P Global, primarily at the Platts division. He was Platts' leading "talking head," appearing on television business shows and presenting at conferences on energy and blockchain issues. He also spent three years in a corporate role at Platts' parent McGraw Hill Financial, which in 2016 became S&P Global. At S&P Global, he created and led the company's blockchain task force to determine how the nascent technology would impact the company. Kingston works with the editorial team to broaden coverage, content and data that readers need to understand how the freight markets are impacted by regulatory, economic, technology and business developments. Much of his career was spent at McGraw-Hill/S&P Global, primarily at the Platts division. He was Platts' leading "talking head," appearing on television business shows and presenting at conferences on energy and blockchain issues. In 2015 he joined S&P's management team, serving as President of the McGraw Hill Financial Institute and Director of Global Market Insights. He launched the S&P Global Task Force on Blockchain to determine how the nascent technology would impact the company.
