Chief Executive Officer

Iain was appointed Group Chief Executive of Centrica plc on 1 January 2015.  

Iain was previously BP's Chief Executive, Downstream, a position he held for seven years. Iain was a Board member of BP for 10 years from 2004 and had previously held a number of senior roles throughout BP including in trading, exploration and production, and the management of corporate functions such as safety, marketing, technology and human resources. Iain served as a non-executive director and latterly senior independent director of Rolls-Royce Holdings plc from January 2005 until May 2014.

Iain is a non-executive director of BT Group plc, Chairman of the Advisory Board of Imperial College Business School, a member of the advisory board of the Centre for European Reform, a member of the European Round Table of Industrialists and a member of the CBI’s President’s Committee.  Iain is Co-Chair of the World Economic Forum System Initiative on the Future of Energy. The System Initiative aims to enable an effective transition to a more sustainable, affordable, secure and inclusive energy system by accelerating development of effective policies, private-sector action and public-private cooperation.

Iain is also a member of the BritishAmericanBusiness International Advisory Board and the EUCERS Advisory Board.
