Senior Regulatory Counsel

Mr. Sahay is Senior Regulatory Counsel at POET, LLC, the world’s largest biofuels producer. He takes pride in POET’s mission to be good stewards of the Earth by converting renewable resources to energy and other valuable goods as effectively as humanly possible. At POET, Mr. Sahay has led some of the largest regulatory and litigation initiatives affecting the biofuels industry, including the development of the recent EPA rulemaking enabling year-round E15 sales, defense of the Renewable Fuel Standards, and elimination of European tariffs on American ethanol. He also leads the company’s legal work in several other areas, such as regulatory compliance and international trade. Mr. Sahay serves in leadership positions for trade associations and non-profits, including as a Board Member and Secretary of the Low Carbon Fuels Coalition and on the Leadership Council of the Environmental Law Institute. He has a J.D. from Harvard Law School, and an A.B. in Earth and Planetary Sciences from Harvard College.
