Director

Basel Asmar is a director with the Costs and Supply Chain team at S&P Global. Prior to this, Dr. Asmar was a director with the Vantage Field Development cost team and in the Upstream Consulting team in the Costs and Technology team, responsible for cost estimating and performance improvement consulting activities worldwide. Dr. Asmar is an expert in oil and gas fundamentals and a dynamic simulation expert with extensive computer, modeling, and simulation skills. He worked previously in several roles with major engineering companies concerned with large LNG regasification and liquefaction terminals, natural gas compression stations, and offshore oil and gas production platforms. He was as a senior process engineer and dynamic simulation specialist with CB&I, Mott MacDonald, and IMEG, as well as a lead consultant with Trident Consultants Ltd, London. Prior to that he worked in academia as a research associate at the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom. Dr. Asmar has published more than 40 articles in international journals, conference proceedings, and newspapers. He has authored three books “Fossil Fuels in the Arab World: Facts and Fiction”, Fossil Fuels in the Arab World: Seasons Reversed” and “Fossil Fuels in the Arab World: Missed the Boat?”. He is a chartered engineer, a member of the Institute of Chemical Engineers, and a senior member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. Dr. Asmar holds a Bachelor of Science from Jordan University, a Master of Science and a PhD from the University of Nottingham, and a doctorate from Free University Berlin, Germany.
