Lyceum Labs: Afternoon Labs

Future Transit of Russian Gas Through Ukraine: To the brink—and beyond?

Tuesday, March 12

04:00 pm - 04:50 pm

As the current contract for transit of Russian gas through Ukraine enters its final year, lack of clarity over the terms of transit after December 2019 poses considerable uncertainty for the security of European gas supply. Previous Russian-Ukrainian gas disputes were resolved at the 11th hour—or after midnight—facilitated by EU involvement. However, finding a compromise under today’s circumstances will be even more challenging than in the past. This Lyceum Lab will focus on these critical questions and how they may play out.
