Competing for Talent in a World of Energy Transition

Tuesday, March 10

12:30 pm - 01:20 pm

Attracting the best talent to our organizations is challenging as the energy industry tries to reframe its negative perception into a positive one. How do we convince the best and the brightest that making progress on climate change will require their skills at corporations with the largest carbon footprints? Millennials and Gen Z want to join organizations that are mission-driven and be part of something that is bigger than themselves. Author Simon Sinek, in his book Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action, shows how organizations build inspiring teams and cultures by having a common purpose. How are we reframing the debate to show our organizations are part of the solution? How are energy companies using the attention of the media and university campuses to attract the best talent to their organizations?
