Shannon Miller

Mainspring Energy

Chief Executive Officer & Founder

Shannon Miller co-founded Mainspring in 2010 and has led the company as CEO from inception through commercial launch. A former National Science Foundation Fellow, Shannon received funding from the Global Climate Energy Project to advance her research at Stanford University on methods for improving efficiency of fuel conversion to electricity. In conducting this research, Shannon collaborated with Matt Svrcek to design and develop the early prototype that served as the foundation for Mainspring's linear generator technology. Shannon holds a B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Stanford. She was recognized in 2012 by the MIT Technology Review as one of “35 Innovators Under 35” and in 2022 won the U.S. Department of Energy C3E Award in the Entrepreneurship category, in recognition for her clean energy leadership.
