Ricardo Monte Alto is Vale SA’s group head of strategy based in New York City. He is responsible for corporate planning, capital allocation, project evaluation, and the development of long-term strategies to capitalize on Vale’s unique position to help with, and benefit from, the energy transition of the value chains where it operates. Prior to Vale, Ricardo worked for 15 years as a trusted advisor to senior executives and chiefs of state in metals and mining, having led multiple consulting projects at Wood Mackenzie (2012-2020) and McKinsey & Company (2005-2012). He previously led CSN’s strategy, M&A and business development team (1999-2005) and was an intern with Brazil’s Fund for Biodiversity (1997).
