Markus Exenberger is an economist and engineer, active as managing partner of H2Global Advisory GmbH and executive director of the H2Global Foundation. Prior to that, he spent 20 years managing large and complex energy portfolios in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas. Among others, he worked for the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) and international consulting companies.

But the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, with its generous tax credits for hydrogen projects, seems to have put the United States in a leadership position—and is causing the EU to rethink its own approach.
