President & Managing Director, Carbon Neutrality Promotion Headquarters

Hajime Wakuda has currently served as President and Executive Managing Director of Carbon Neutral Promotion Headquarters, Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security (JOGMEC) since April 2020. Under his direction, JOGMEC has further strengthened its carbon neutral initiative towards a stable and sustainable energy society. Prior to joining JOGMEC, he was appointed as Director of Policy Planning Division, Natural Resources and Fuel Department, Agency for Natural Resources and Energy within Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI). He obtained his master’s degree in public administration from Columbia University in the City of New York and master’s/bachelor’s degree in engineering from University of Tokyo.
