Gretchen Kittel

Acting Director, Outreach and Business Development Division

Gretchen Kittel is the Acting Director of Outreach and Business Development for the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Loan Programs Office (LPO). She leads LPO’s business development activities to engage with potential applicants and help borrowers move through pre-application consultations and the application process. Her team is managing more than 90 active applications for nearly $100 billion in loans across a variety of clean energy and advanced transportation sectors. Ms. Kittel’s prior experience includes 8 years with the Small Business Administration (SBA), where she led a team of investment professionals to manage the credit exposure and regulatory compliance of a portfolio of 104 SBA-licensed small business investment companies (“SBIC”) with approximately $12.4 billion assets under management. She served as a voting member of the credit committee for the SBA’s overall portfolio of 317 SBICs with approximately $30.0 billion assets under management. Previously, Ms. Kittel worked in investment banking at J.P. Morgan and served at the senior management level of venture capital- financed and small- to mid-sized privately held and publicly listed companies. Ms. Kittel holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Loyola University and a Master of Business Administration from Yale University.
