Lean In Network Energy | The Diversity Iceberg - Understanding where the Damage Takes Places

Too many people in commercial contexts are turned off by academic research and approaches to DEI, preferring survey style reports that provide data, measurement and audits for easy reading, reference and repeatability. The lack of significant progress for women in the workplace through the past 50 years of diversity efforts demands organizations and leaders take a more serious look at what sits at the heart of inhibiting and prohibiting advancement for women. Passionate about this issue Denise Mannix Founder and CEO of Equity in Leadership and President of Lean In Network Energy, addresses this concern in her current PhD research in which she looks at the central feminist concepts of Power, Agency, Difference and Resistance through the stories of women and men pursuing their executive leadership careers. Join Denise as she speaks to an update on her current work and the relevance of these four central concepts in relation to the Energy sector.

    Lean In Network Energy

Today 90% of energy companies confirm that gender diversity is a priority, yet the industry still lags far behind other sectors in terms of women in the workforce in general as well as women in management positions. The global pandemic has made gender parity even more of an issue. Women have lost jobs at higher rates, and they have turned their back on an industry that has the perception of refusing to promote equitably even as females take on more burden and resulting stress. LINE as it is frequently referred to, has brand recognition as a global Network for the energy vertical. Its Mission and Vision are dedicated to women’s career empowerment and gender parity in the energy industry. It works volunteers at no-cost events and membership to change, challenge and collaborate for empowerment and parity for women across the global energy spectrum, to enable the much needed diversity of perspectives, behaviors and actions required at all job levels to generate long-term innovation and bottom-line success across the industry. This podcast will explore LINE’s efforts including being recognized as a change-agent in this sphere with a segment to be featured on Bloomberg TV’s Advancements with Ted Danson in 2023.
