Darrin Talley is Vice President, Corporate Strategic Planning for Exxon Mobil Corporation. In this role, he oversees all of the corporation’s strategy and planning activities including the development of the Energy Outlook, ExxonMobil’s assessment of global energy trends. Mr. Talley has had a diverse career at ExxonMobil across a range of assignments with varying geographic, business and technical scope. He has worked in supply and logistics in South America and Asia, managed refineries in Texas and Singapore, and directed global marketing activities for the Fuels and Lubes value chains. In 2017, following several senior leadership positions within ExxonMobil’s Chemicals and Downstream businesses, he returned to the corporate headquarters in Irving to become Manager of Corporate Strategy, where he led the development of several key business and corporate strategies. Prior to assuming his current role, Mr. Talley served as President of ExxonMobil Research and Engineering, responsible for corporate research, fuels and lubricants technology development and engineering support. Mr. Talley earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology, as well as an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh. He currently serves as the Chair of the University of Houston’s Energy Advisory Board which is composed of energy industry experts and leaders serving to advance energy education and research. A native of Paris, Missouri, he and his wife, Sarah, have lived in Texas and Virginia as well as Mexico City and Singapore with their two children, Denver and Anna.
