Brian Hunt currently serves as the Small Modular Reactor (SMR) Innovation Program Manager for GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH). In this role, Brian leads innovation and technology incubation and development across GEH’s Advanced Nuclear products including the BWRX-300 and Generation IV SMRs. Brian supports development and design-to-cost efforts for the BWRX-300 and is leading development and strategy efforts to support scalable emissions reductions for industrial applications. A recent invention Brian led with colleagues from GEH and GE Research enables BWRX-300 to produce superheated steam for industrial processes through the design and integration of an innovative heat pump. Brian is leading development of innovative ways to produce cost-competitive clean fuels such as clean hydrogen and carbon-neutral synthetic fuels and petrochemical feedstocks at transformational scale. Brian is a founder and co-inventor of GE Hitachi’s BWRX-300 SMR design. In previous roles, Brian served as business development manager for Precision Custom Components, a large nuclear and DOD close-tolerance component manufacturer in York, PA, and for many years Brian led GEH’s marketing and strategic planning for its Nuclear Power Plants and Fuels products, based in Wilmington, NC. Brian is a graduate of the legacy GE Energy’s two-year Commercial Leadership Program and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University. Brian is a holder of seven U.S. patents, with two additional patents pending.
