Principal Deputy Under Secretary for Science & Innovation
Dr. Ali Douraghy is currently Principal Deputy Under Secretary for Science & Innovation at the U.S. Department of Energy, where he has served since January 2021. As PDUS, he leads oversight responsibilities for a $15 billion portfolio of activities across DOE’s Office of Science, Applied Energy Programs and 13 National Laboratories, the premier engines of scientific discovery and clean energy innovation. He has previously held science and technology leadership roles at Berkeley Lab, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine, U.S. Agency for International Development, and the U.S. Embassy in Indonesia. Dr. Douraghy received his PhD in Biomedical Physics from the UCLA School of Medicine is an elected fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
